Almost every nation has enacted laws criminalizing human trafficking, and international organizations, governments, and NGOs sponsor a large variety of projects to curb trafficking and slavery. Billions of dollars have been allocated to these efforts. What is the international community doing to combat slavery and trafficking? What are the experiences like those being trafficked?

IN Council on World Affairs Great Decisions Program welcomes Laura Donatelli Bow.

Laura Donatelli Bow is a graduate of Indiana University’s School of Global & International Studies. Mrs. Donatelli Bow concluded her thesis on the aid provision to refugees & asylum seekers fleeing war-torn Syria from 2014-2015. She dedicated her academic career on the study of human rights & their violations, provision of services to not only refugees but victim & minority groups as well as foreign languages. She worked with refugees both in the US & abroad as a volunteer & interpreter which helped her broaden her experiences. Prior to joining the Indiana Trafficking Victims Assistance Program, she worked for the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office as a translator in criminal cases, aiding in interpretation & translation for victims & families. Ms. Donatelli Bow is passionate about human trafficking & its intricacies, empowering youth & research & serves as IPATH’s Labour Trafficking Committee Co-Chair.
