JCRC — “IRT performs ‘Anne Frank’”

Indiana Repertory Theatre will present the classic “The Diary of Anne Frank” Jan. 25 to Feb. 24 at the OneAmerica Stage at the Indianapolis venue.

The play, presented by Glick Philanthropies, was written by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett and adapted by Wendy Kesselman.

It follows the true story of Frank holding on to her faith in humanity as she and her Jewish family hide from the Nazis in the Nazi-occupied Netherlands. After being captured, Frank died of illness in a concentration camp.

The show runs two hours and 45 minutes with a 15-minute intermission. The first performance is at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25, followed by performances at 2 and 6 p.m. Jan. 27. There will be a post-show discussion after the 2 p.m. performance with the cast and IRT staff.

The 6 p.m. performance is a fifth annual Community Night on International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Through partnership with the Indianapolis Jewish Community Relations Council and the Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis, there will be a post-show candle-lighting ceremony and readings from Frank’s diary.

The cast features Miranda Troutt as Anne Frank; Ryan Artzberger as Otto Frank; Betsy Schwarz as Edith Frank; Hannah Ruwe as Margot Frank; and Sydney Andrews as Miep Gies.

IRT Drtistic Director Janet Allen is serving as the director.
